Dr. Shilly Maelane earned his MBCHB from the University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus) in 2007 and completed a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery (MMed FC Ortho) at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in 2016. Since 2017, he has been part of the Smith & Nephew Arthroplasty Academy, specializing in hip and knee replacements. He is a member of Eurospine and has been certified to manage spine disorders. He runs three successful practices in Gauteng, focusing on arthroplasty, spine surgery, and sports medicine. Dr. Maelane holds certifications from the American College and Board of Independent Medical Examiners and attended a Masters Course in Arthroplasty in India in February 2025. He is currently completing his Masters in Shoulder Surgery with Alebat Education and Clinica CEMTRO in Spain, one of the only 32 FIFA centres of Excellence in Europe.
